NSW Poetry Prize© is an inaugural initiative of community members to reward and recognise creative and diverse voices in our poetic landscape.
The award is open to writers from any country aged 17 years and over.

Theme
The theme for this competition is courage.
This is a theme to inspire your poem; the word ‘courage’ itself does not necessarily need to appear anywhere in your poem.
Literal and abstract interpretations are accepted.
Competition Dates
NSW Poetry Prize© opens 1 July and closes midnight AEST 31 August 2024.
Judging will take place in September. Winners will be announced on our website by 30 September 2024.
Winners will also be notified by email.
Prize Pool*
The top 3 spots will be awarded as follows:
First place – $200AU
Second place – $100AU
Third place – $50AU
We will also publish a selection of shortlisted entries on our page.
* Prizes will only be awarded in cash and are in Australian currency. The prize amounts are inclusive of any transaction, conversion or processing fees. NSW Poetry Prize© reserves the right to not award a prize if an insufficient number of meritorious entries are received.
